Here is one of our Collage Ladies.  She is printed on cotton fabric and is ready for you to stitch, embellish or otherwise dress her up with your creativity before using her on the front of a pillow or the back of a jacket.  She would be just as lovely in a frame.  She and others like her can be found on our website at www.flightsoffancyboutique.com.

For a project with heirloom results, try one of our heart button pins.  These pins are created using a stuffed muslin heart base.  The larger one measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".  We cut the heart out of muslin, then stitched all around the edges cutting a slit in one side or the other to turn the heart.  Stuff lightly with fiber fill, then slip stitch the slit closed.  You will cover this side with buttons, so not to worry.  Now for the fun part.  You will want to use tiny buttons.  I have a passion for vintage mother-of-pearl buttons and have collected them for years.  So that was my choice, but you can use any buttons you want.  Just keep in mind the smaller the better.  Larger buttons tend to obscure the shape of the heart. Start sewing the buttons at one edge and work toward the center.  They look prettier if you overlap them slightly.  When finished you can add one or two really special buttons over the top of the others to create a focal point.  We finish it with a pinback on the back of the heart.

Have shown a darker heart pin showing larger focal point buttons.

Oh, and one more thing - this adorable heart pin is easy to make and so vintage!  An old friend, Charlene Birkle made this years ago and it remains one of my favorite things.  I have it pinned to a vintage little girl's eyelet coat, but it would be equally smashing pinned to your blouse.  This one is made from an old Ralph Lauren sheet and is embellished with some vintage millinery flowers, a bit of old lace and some krinkled rayon seam binding.  So easy!
